Project Information
Confirming its significant expertise in the field, AKTOR FM has been assigned with the Operation and Maintenance of 12 state-of-the-art Tunnels and 3 Underpasses, with a total length of 5,305m, in the city of Doha, Qatar.
All tunnels are equipped with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and advanced Mechanical & Electrical Systems (M&E), which incorporate the most-up-to-date technology on Tunnel Traffic and Monitoring, Lane Control Signs and License Plate Recognition, Tunnel Fire & Life Safety, Tunnel Ventilation & Lighting, combined with modern Environmental Monitoring, Drainage and Communication Systems.
Within the project’s framework, AKTOR FM is responsible for regular routine, planned preventative and corrective maintenance works, planned overhauling, breakdowns, operation and utilization of all Tunnel M&E control and monitoring systems, as well as on-site traffic and emergency management.
Under the relevant contracts, AKTOR FM is responsible for Operation and Maintenance of the following 12 Tunnels and 3 Underpasses:
• 1 Tunnel consisting of 3 sections of total length of 1,194m which connects the Mall of Qatar at the North West corner and the Al Rayyan Stadium at the west side just after the Mall of Qatar to the city road network that passes under the Dukhan Road and continues to the SE direction.
• 1 Tunnel of 347m length which links Al Corniche Street and Ras Abu Abboud Street at Al Sharq interchange
• 6 Tunnels and 1 Underpass with total length of 2,416m in Lusail Expressway which is a 5.5 km stretch expressway between West Bay, Doha and Lusail with three (3) interchanges consisting of flyovers, bridges, tunnels and underpasses. The Expressway Tunnels connect several public destinations such as the Pearl, Katara, and the Diplomatic Area as well as residential areas, hotels and other facilities.
• 1 Tunnel of 2 parts of total length of 630m in Al Wakrah Bypass, which is the southern segment of the major North-South high- speed corridor which connects to Al Shamal Road to the North and Al Wakrah-Mesaieed Road to the south, where it diverges towards the future Doha Port and the Mesaieed Industrial Area.
• 3 Tunnels and 2 Underpasses of total length of 718m in Al Muntazah Street, which is designed for the upgrading of the existing road towards Industrial area
