Project Information
The twin railway “Othrios” tunnel, which was completed by AKTOR at the end of 2018, is the 2nd longest railway tunnel in Greece after the Kallidromo tunnel. It is a high speed tunnel of 7.02 km, a significant part of the Athens-Thessaloniki railway line in the section of Tithorea-Domokos, which will allow for the operation of electric trains, reducing further the travelling distance between Athens and Thessaloniki.
The “Othrios” Twin Tunnel, the 2nd longest railway tunnel in Greece, as well as the Ekkara Bridge (SG26), the largest railway bridge in the Balkans, are extremely demanding and challenging projects and an active contribution on behalf of AKTOR in the modernization and evolution of the railways in Greece.
